Meet CHEF Sonja Tutwiler

Cooking has always been a passion of mine.  Since I was old enough to reach the counter, I was opening cans of tomato soup and "spicing it up" with my Aunt Shirley and Oma as my taste testers.  At four years old, they thought I was a natural.  As I progressed in age and continued to learn, my taste buds became quite spoiled and I had to adapt.  

 

My father who is from Austrian descent taught me that certain foods fuel the body and that a certain balance of healthy foods is necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  I have witnessed this from both spectrums of the globe having grown up in Pittsburgh and also spending much time on the farm in Austria.  I have also worked many years in the restaurant business in Florida where I finally realized all the deficiences that come from American food cooking with grease and a deep fryer.

 

However, I am extremely lucky in that my father's best friend just so happens to be a Master Chef of German decent.  Chef Karl (as he is known by the thousands he's served over the years) was owner of the renowned Wine Cellar restaurant in Redington Shores, Florida.  Over the years, Karl has not only helped me to sharpen my knives, but also guided me to find my own way of cooking as I continue to hone my culinary skills.  I am proud to say I am Karl's Sous Chef with a flavor or my own.   

 

As I crossed into married life, I found that my kitchen was being used even more.  Not only did I have a hungry man to feed, but also family, relatives, and friends.  Quickly I started to develop a fan club who always wanted me to cook.  We had all been through the process of dining out and it was becoming harder to be satisfied so we I dined in.  Not to mention the money we saved.

 

I am a gradute of the University of South Florida with a degree in Political Science and Social Work.  Naturally my calling has always been to want to help people and what better way than to teach them and help them using something I am passionate about. 

 

Cooking food is my greatest passion and I am a firm believer in a home cooked meal using all natural ingredients.  I look forward to sharing my creative culinary side with you or your family.
